Morgan Freeman’s 33-year-old step-granddaughter, E’Dena Hines, was fatally stabbed early Sunday in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, multiple sources confirm.
A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and brought to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for a mental evaluation, but he has not been charged, The New York Daily News reported.
Police reportedly responded to a call around 3:00 a.m. and found Hines in the street with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to Harlem Hospital and later pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.
Freeman released a statement to Gossip Cop:
The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.
