One of Nike’s most memorable cult classic runners is about to make a comeback.
According to Nike Blog, the Zoom Spiridon is scheduled to drop later this year. To bring you up to speed, the Zoom Spiridon first released in 1997 and was considered a close relative of the Air Max 97, which you can see traces of in the upper’s design. However, instead of full-length visible Air, the Spiridon boasted Zoom Air tooling along with bold design cues like a chunky Swoosh and wavy midsole.
The Zoom Spiridon had a brief retro run in the mid 2000s, but it wasn’t quite enough to satisfy diehard fans. For those who’ve been holding out, your time is almost here. This ahead-of-its-time runner is due to return as the Zoom Spiridon 16 sometime this summer, which means we should start seeing more of these in the next few weeks.
