Last night, SpaceX released some new information on what it will cost you to sent a satellite into orbit aboard their Falcon 9 or Falcon 9 Heavy rockets, anywhere from $62 to $90 million.
SpaceX has long been touting their ability to drive down the cost of spaceflight for either commercial or governmental customers, and after their recent barge landing, it looks like they’re figured just how much cheaper it’ll cost.
Also included are figures for how much can be hauled up into orbit at any given time, to Low Earth Orbit or Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. They’ve also thrown in figures for how much weight one can take to Mars in 2018, which certainly looks as though they’re doubling down on their plans once they reach the red planet in two years.
The company also noted that “Modest discounts are available, for contractually committed, multi-launch purchases.” Buy ten, get one free?
