The NBA has suspended Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green for Game Five of the NBA Finals for taking a swipe at LeBron James during Friday’s Game Four. Green was retroactively assessed his fourth flagrant foul of the postseason, which results in an automatic one-game suspension.
It all went down with 2:48 remaining in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game as the Warriors pulled away. Green fell to the court, and James, certainly frustrated with the direction of the game and series, tried to step over him, Iverson-on-Lue style.
“While Draymond Green’s actions in Game 4 do not merit a suspension as a standalone act, the number of flagrant points he has earned triggers a suspension for Game 5,” said Kiki VanDeWeghe, the NBA’s Executive VP of Basketball Operations, in a statement.
Draymond and LeBron had different takes on Friday’s incident. While Green said it’s just “stuff that’s said on the court,” James took personal offense to it.
”Draymond just said something that I don’t agree with,” James said to reporters after Friday’s game. ”I’m all cool with the competition. I’m all fine with that, but some of the words that came out of his mouth were a little bit overboard, and being a guy with pride, a guy with three kids and a family, things of that nature, some things just go overboard.”
James was also retroactively assessed a technical foul for his role in the incident.
If Green gets another flagrant foul, he’ll either be suspended for one additional game (for a Flagrant 1) or two (for a Flagrant 2).
The Warriors have the Cavaliers on the ropes with a 3-1 series lead. Game Five will take place at Oracle Arena Monday at 9 p.m E.T.

Don’t even try to defend this horsesh*t with logic. The NBA caved to the Queen. Period.
And for those Cavs fans who want to rationalize this diva’s desperate little kabuki act, a reality check: anyone tried this teabag stunt on Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, Rick Barry, Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Bird, Magic, Jordan, Hakeem, much less men as proud and fierce as Russell or Chamberlain? James would be a lifelong eunuch.
Fat Chuck has this right: you disrespect a competitor to such a degree, expect a fight.
Green did nothing. The NBA is shameless, an embarrassment, and that starts with Adam Silver….
The Finals are over. Let the theatrical farce begin….
