Watch the Creative Process Unfold Before Your Eyes as a Sculptor Crafts a New Work

Artist Jim McKenzie filmed himself in The Scarecrow, which follows along as he crafts an epoxy clay sculpture for “Lost Magic,” a solo exhibition that’s ongoing through July 2 at Santa Monica’s Copro Gallery. You watch him starting from sketches and meticulously adding every tiny detail. The shoes! The feathers!

The film continues on to the opening of “Lost Magic,” where you see all of McKenzie’s other fantasy-inspired works, knowing how much work he put into each one. (That sleepy dog we see in his studio while he’s working? Surelythe model for that blue, furry caterpillar beast that’s also in the show.)
