Authorities said that multiple officers were shot near a shopping center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Sunday morning, according to the Associated Press.
The Advocate reported that Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola confirmed several officers were shot, and that they are unable to confirm at the moment whether they’ve apprehended their suspect.
Mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish Kip Holden said at least three officers are seriously wounded, according to the New York Times.

UPDATE [12:10 p.m.]: Holden said in an interview with MSNBC on Sunday that three officers are dead, and several more are wounded and being treated at a local hospital. Holden said the situation is currently “fluid,” that the identity of the shooter, and whether there were multiple shooters involved, is not yet known.
UPDATE [12:40]: The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department confirmed in a statement that three police officers have been shot and killed, and that three more officers have been wounded. A spokesperson for the department said that one shooting suspect is dead and officials believe another two may be at large.
UPDATE [4:45]: Louisiana State Police Superintendent Col. Michael Edmonsonsaid at a news conference that the person who shot the officers was shot and killed at the scene. While authorities had initially been searching for two additional suspects, the situation has changed and “There is not an active shooter scenario in Baton Rouge,” according to Edmonson.
UPDATE [5:20]: Multiple news outlets are reporting the identity of the shooter is 29-year-old Gavin Long, from Kansas City, Missouri.
