NIKE DEBUTS A NEW EDITION OF THE ICONIC AIR MAX, THE 270

Nike was steps ahead of the ath-leisure trend. Its iconic Air Max model basically pioneered combining comfort and streetwear cool, thanks to the comfy cushion technology on its gigantic, outsize soles.

That was way bay in 1987, and there have been numerable iterations since—recently the Air Vapormax. In 2018, we are getting another: the Nike Air Max 270.

It is an entirely new look for Nike, but you have probably seen its parts before. The sneaker has been billed as a combination of the Air Max 93, or at least its 270-degree air unit on the sole, as well as the Air Max 180, distinguished by a pink heel cup.

Now the colorful heel cup extends around the back, juts out for extra support and wraps around to the midsole to from 270 degrees (hence, the name). But the name is also a rounding down from 273, what you get when you add up 180 and 93.

The sole also happens to be the thickest of the Air Max lineup yet, at 32-mm tall (about 1.26 inch). Short guys, this is your sneaker!

You probably want to break them in on the court already, but be warned: these are the first-ever “lifestyle air unit,” which means they are intended for casual wear rather than performance.

The Air Max 270 will hit the SNKRS app on February 1. They are reported to cost $150 and will come in a slew of cool colorways.
