Warner Bros. Is Developing a Wile E. Coyote Movie

Nearly 70 years after his first unsuccessful pursuit of the Road Runner back in 1949, Wile E. Coyote is heading to the big screen.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is developing a full-length animated feature film called Coyote Vs. Acme, which will star the lovably ill-fated coyote. Jon and Josh Silberman, whose credits include It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Living Biblically, will write the film. The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay will produce.

Warner Bros. last explored the Looney Tunes universe in 2003 with Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Before that, they pulled off 1996’s live-action classic Space Jam, which pulled in over $230 million worldwide.

As of now, it’s unclear exactly how the film’s crew will approach the task of translating Wile E. Coyote’s slapstick-based antics to a full feature-length runtime. One safe bet is that you’ll see many of the elaborate ACME products that appeared in the several Wile E. Coyote cartoons that have aired over the past seven decades.

If you’re in need of a brush-up, YouTube user ltclassics was nice enough to create a highlight reel that features 80 Wile E. Coyote-related explosions in under 11 minutes. Dive in below. Meep meep.
