At least 30 people are dead after three suicide bombers detonated their explosives outside of a cinema in Konduga, Nigeria.
According to a local leader of a self-defense group formed to deal with the decade-long conflict with Boko Haram, the first bomber detonated his vest outside the venue after being denied entry.
“There was a heated argument between the operator and the bomber who blew himself up,” Ali Hassan told the BBC.
While little is known about the attackers, CNN identifies them as “two girls and a boy.” The head of the region’s emergency operations rescue team said that the two girls detonated their devices after the boy.
“They positioned themselves in different spots in the same area. Most of the people who died were from the viewing center. At least 24 people died when he blew himself up and 21 people were injured,” Bello Dambatta said. Boko Haram came to global attention after kidnapping hundreds of schoolgirls in 2014.
