Anyone familiar with the seminal Marvel comic run Age of Apocalypse knows what to expect from the latest X-Men movie. Heck, anyone familiar with the Book of Revelation does, too. Ancient guy with four super-powered attendants comes riding in to ruin everybody’s lunch. Now, though, the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse shows us just how Bryan Singer’s latest cinematic superhero extravaganza has adapted the story for the screen.
If a massive comet struck the Earth, the oceans would boil and the air would catch fire (don’t worry, this isn’t about to happen). But to alien astronomers studying our planet from afar, humanity’s brutal demise would look like nothing more than a faint flicker of light. If we could detect such impacts on distant worlds, we might learn a lot about their star systems.
