Barack Obama may be leaving office with his singular achievement in grave danger, but there is one accomplishment no one can take away from him: December 2016 finds his term ending with a record 75th straight month of job growth, according to CNN Money.
Many Americans are struggling to pay back their student loan debts—which are a burden financially as well as mentally. President Barack Obama and his administration are trying to help students out by forgiving some student loan debt, but a new study by the Government Accountability Office found that the program will cost taxpayers far more than expected.
Today marks the official opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Located in Washington, D.C., it is now the only museum in the US that’s main emphasis is African-American culture, life and history. The grand opening will be brought forth by a three day festival event which will feature the likes of Angela Bassett and Robert De Niro reciting the works of black poets and historians in addition to musical performances via Stevie Wonder and Patti Labelle.

President Barack Obama urged Howard University’s class of 2016 on Saturday to “be confident in [their] blackness” and continue past generations’ work to improve the lives of African Americans in the U.S.
After opening his address on the progress African Americans have made, Obama spent a good portion of his speech discussing the importance of being black and the challenges facing graduates of Howard, one the country’s historically black universities.
