Motion Capture Visualizations Reveal the Beauty of Kung Fu

The movements in kung fu are so graceful that even when you replace the human with random digital objects, the art of it still shines through. Tobias Gremmler captured the motion of kung fu and then recreated it with different digital variations: as a fabric weaved over time, expanding into emptiness, reconstructing shapes from motion, and so much more. The special effects behind Game of Thrones’ epic White Walker battle

The VFX in Game of Thrones is consistently great for a TV show, with some scenes rivaling the very best of any visual medium. And this past season’s battle (or massacre) at Hardhome between the White Walkers and wights vs The Night’s Watch and the wildlings might very well be the best we’ve seen. At the very least, it’s the most visually impressive battle scene the series has given us given all the moving parts. Here’s how they made it.

Watching realistic CGI giraffes dive into a pool is pure ridiculous fun

This is completely absurd but Nicolas Deveaux’s 5 Mètres 80 is so fun that it doesn’t really matter. A group of giraffes raid a pool and start jumping off the high dive while doing tricks. It’s all CGI but the giraffes look so realistic that I can’t help but imagine the alternate reality that this is happening somewhere in some pool.
