Facebook Inc. said on Wednesday that government requests for user account data rose 27 percent in the first half of 2016 compared to the second half of last year, with U.S. law enforcement agencies topping the list.
AFTER YEARS OF silence on the issue of autonomous vehicles, Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx announced this afternoon that he’s giving the DOT six months to draft comprehensive rules governing how autonomous cars should be tested and regulated. The feds are also planning to fund new projects: President Obama’s 2017 budget proposal includes nearly $4 billion over 10 years for pilot programs testing connected vehicle systems.
The United States Postal Service’s financial troubles have been well publicized in recent years. The worst of it came in 2012, when the USPS lost a whopping $15.9 billion dollars, followed by $4.8 billion and $5.3 billion in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
