One would think you’d have to go away for longer than eight months to truly hype a “comeback” (especially for a guy who’s gone more than a year between matches multiple times) but Floyd Mayweather strongly hinted last night that he could be doing just that, thanks to reportedly asinine figures being offered to put on another one of his dull ass fights.
In the years—sigh, yes, years—leading up to Floyd Mayweather‘s May 2, 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao, one of the hang-ups during negotiations between the two sides was drug testing. Mayweather wanted very strict Olympic-style drug testing policies put into place, but Pacquiao wasn’t on board with taking that approach. It’s one of the many reasons it took forever for the so-called “Fight of the Century” to happen.
Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather are never going to get into the ring/Octagon together, regardless of how much people seem to want it to happen. But their war of words is probably going to keep us entertained for years to come.
Most people who spent $99.99 to order the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight on May 2 are still kicking themselves for doing it. The fight was OK, but it didn’t turn out to be the must-see TV event that everyone thought it’d be. So those people will be happy to learn that Mayweather’s next (and last!) fight might cost…nothing.
The Undisputed Champion Network caught up with boxing legend Mike Tyson to talk about the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight on May 2.
