FEMA Says Los Angeles County Is Most Dangerous Area in America

While Los Angeles County may have sun, beaches, and nightlife, it’s also susceptible to a number of natural disasters.

In fact, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has calculated that the area is the most dangerous in the U.S. Deadline reports that FEMA determined the risk of every county in America based on 18 types of natural disasters, including earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, volcanoes, and tsunamis. The COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t considered, though Los Angeles has been dubbed “ground zero” for the virus.

Southern California Hit With Biggest Earthquake in Two Decades

Southern California, including the greater Los Angeles area, was just hit with one of the biggest earthquakes the region has experienced in two decades. The long earthquake, which reportedly lasted between 15 and 20 seconds, measured at 6.4 on the Richter scale. Centered in the Searles Valley near Ridgecrest in San Bernardino County, the quake was felt from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, CNN reports. What it’s like to be in Nepal after the earthquake

Another massive earthquake hit Nepal today, this time the epicenter was near Mount Everest. It’s so sad because the people of Nepal are still recovering from the 7.8-magnitude earthquake just two weeks ago that had killed thousands and wrecked Nepal to an unimaginable degree.
