Ex-NBA Star Brandon Roy Reportedly Shot While Shielding Kids From Gunfire Outside Grandmother’s Home

Former Trail Blazers star Brandon Roy was reportedly shot in the leg outside of his grandmother’s house near Los Angeles over the weekend, King 5 TV in Seattle reported early Wednesday morning. According to sources who spoke with King 5, Roy was a bystander during what may have been a gang-related shooting. He reportedly received treatment in California before returning to his home in Washington state where he is expected to make a full recovery.

More Than 3,000 People Have Been Shot in Chicago This Year

The city of Chicago’s homicide count for 2016 surpassed the total number of killings the city saw in 2015 over Labor Day weekend, when the total reached over 500. Now, Chicago has logged more than 3,000shootings for the year so far, exceeding the total of 2,980 shootings that were recorded in all of 2015.

America Has Seen More Mass Shootings Than Days in 2015

In the wake of yet another mass shooting in the United States, the country’s steadily worsening statistics on gun-related violence have once again started invading headlines. When a couple fatally shot at least 14 people at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino on Wednesday, the tragedy became the 355th mass shooting of 2015. In fact, the massacre in California was actually the second mass shooting on Wednesday alone, as NBC News notes that three people were wounded and one killed during a shooting Georgia earlier that day.

FBI Investigating Arson Cases at Predominantly Black Churches

The FBI is investigating four fires that occurred at predominantly black churches in the South in recent days, reports BuzzFeed. A spokesperson confirmed that the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are working together with local authorities to investigate the culprits and their motives.
